Primatology as an Academic Discipline. Its Peculiarities

The System of Academic Disciplines Academic discipline is a branch of human knowledge in this or that sphere of science. There are numerous academic disciplines which are included to the whole complicated system of disciplines. Each of them has its own subject and object. Disciplines with the same object are united into different groups: humanities, applied sciences, social sciences, etc. Anthropology as an Academic Discipline Anthropology is an academic discipline which studies humanity in various aspects. The main subject of anthropology is such phenomenon as Homo sapiens. Anthropologists try to answer various questions which concern the origin of humanity, the psychology of human creatures, etc. That is why this academic discipline is closely connected with other academic disciplines: psychology, history, biology, etc. Subbranches of Anthropology There is a great number of subbranches within anthropology. The system of this academic discipline comprises such disciplines as biological anthropology, forensic anthropology, gene-culture anthropology, human behavioral ecology, human evolution, medical anthropology, paleanthropology, population genetics, primatology, etc. Primatology as a Subbranch of Anthropology Primatology is an academic discipline which investigates such creatures as primates. As well as anthropology, primatology is closely connected with other disciplines which contribute into the study of primates: biology, archeology, psychology, history, etc. It would be difficult to speak about the evolution of primates without knowledge about their organism. The Division into Western and Japanese Primatology Western and Eastern cultures differ in almost all aspects. It is understandable that Western religion differs greatly from the Eastern one. But how can a science differ from country to country? The object is the same: primates; but disciplines are different. The reason of such difference lies in the methods and principles of investigation. The western primatology investigates the biology of primates, and the Japanese primatology focuses on the social evolution of these creatures.
