The environment of family practice jobs

If you like family then this is the field for you. You'll get to talk to little children and do a physical on them while their family is there too. You get to involve the entire family. You'll get to know them one by one. You get to smile a lot as a family physician. You smile when you see the little kid gets better or when their mom gets better. You'll also smile when they come back next month and tell you that you're a great doctor. You might get to see the same family over and over again. This is the best part about being a family physician. You don't have to deal with a fast pace working environment. This is the opposite of an emergency physician. He won't get to sit back and get to know the family. He'll be busy trying to wake them up even.


You get to relax more as a family physician. You have more time to talk to the family and even counsel them too. You get to take your time with your diagnoses and other type of doctor doesn't have that much time to diagnose their patients. You will also have more common diagnoses or minor illnesses. You will also be doing less medical procedures. You will write a lot of prescription but that's the most that you will do. You don't have to continually check on wound sites or checking on the status of the patients. Usually patients that come to the family doctor will get better with medication. They don't get many other opportunistic infections like patients in the hospital.


You can really sleep at night if you're a family practitioner. They will go somewhere else if they end up with a more severe condition than when they first go to see you. You do get a break as a family physician. You get to have a nice smelling office too. You don't get the more severe cases so you'll have a nicer office. Patients usually come in fully conscious so you don't have to deal with unconscious patients. You don't have to guess as much. You can interview the patients and ask them as many questions as you need to in order to make your diagnoses. This is extremely helpful and it helps to eliminate errors. You will be prescribing medications that are not as fast acting as the one in the hospital and this helps to eliminate mistakes. Patients will not be that affected by a heavy dose of Tylenol or Benadryl. In the hospital, if you make a mistake via an IV, it could be life threatening. You do have many advantages of being a family practitioner. You can enjoy your job more than other doctors and you have less stress. You will also have the opportunity to build your experiences so one day you can open your own business.
